The RESPECT FAN CULTURE – Fans Embassies start their services for supporters on the opening day of EURO 2016.
On June 10 the French Fans Embassy will be the first of 18 RESPECT FAN CULTURE Fans Embassies run by Football Supporters Europe (FSE). It will provide information and advice to supporters and will be located near the Stade de France.
During the tournament a total of 160 volunteers and Fans Embassy staff members will be working and available for enquiries from supporters around their teams’ matches as well as from journalists. At irregular intervals the Respect Fan Culture Fans Embassies will also organise special events for fans in dedicated host cities that will be announced in advance.
FSE will provide important information about the Respect Fan Culture Fans Embassy services prior to matches, including opening hours and location as well as potential special events, via Facebook and Twitter. With our new Instagram account we will also share impressions of our work and the atmosphere in the host cities. It’s to following us!
Journalists working at the tournament will find information, including media contacts, at the UEFA Media Centre in the respective host city.
RESPECT FAN CULTURE – Fans Embassies will be in operation around matches of the following teams: Albania, Austria (limited service) Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and Wales. An Overview of the RESPECT FAN CULTURE – Fans Embassies can be found on the Fans Embassies website.
Addicted to your mobile? Download our latest FSE Fan Guide App update with special information on EURO 2016 in France! City and public transport maps, the best pubs and recommendations for accommodation can be found there as well as information on the teams. The FSE Fans’ Guide App can be downloaded in the app stores or via app.fanseurope.org. It is free and can be used online as well as offline.
In addition, the new issue of the FSE fanzine REVIVE THE ROAR is out now! This fifth All Colours Are Beautiful edition features articles by supporters from many European countries and is a special edition including anti-discrimination initiatives carried out by fans across Europe. It has been produced as one of our contributions to the EU-funded programme QUEERING FOOTBALL – Tackling Homophobia and Promoting Anti-Discrimination around EURO 2016. The programme was designed using the UEFA EURO 2016 in France as a pan‑European communications platform to tackle discrimination and hatred and is co-funded by the European Commission under the ERASMUS+ Sport Programme.
As well as challenging homophobia, the fanzine also looks at wider diversity issues such as welcoming refugees, tackling the far-right and racism, and promoting the role of women in the game.
The fanzine will be distributed at EURO 2016 around several games and project-events of Queering Football, such as the fan-driven Awareness Raising Events. For the schedule, check the website of “Queering Football”!
Fans Embassy is the name that has been given to an advice, information and support service for football supporters travelling to international tournaments or away games in foreign countries, organised by fans and for fans. For more than 20 years Fans Embassy initiatives have contributed to festive atmospheres and reduced tensions and violence at major tournaments. Developed by supporters, the concept today is recognised as best-practice policy in the area of safety and prevention at European level. For further information, visit the Fans Embassies website.
